[edit]From ọ̀ (“nominalizing prefix”) + gbé (“to carry, lift, make”) + ọmọdé (“child”) + làsùrù (“to run haphazardly,”), literally “The one who makes children run frantically”, from the constant flushing of flocks of mannikins which often prompt children to chase them.
