[edit]Possibly from ọ̀dọ̀ (“public, official, in the presence of the government”) + ọ̀fin (“palace”), literally “The physical presence of the palace”, compare with Ọlọ́fin. Probably cognate with Edo ọdafẹn (“husband”)
