Usage notes

ស្លាប់ (slap)​ has a neutral connotation. For animals, ងាប់ (ngŏəp)​ is used and is pejorative when referring to humans. សុគត (sokŭət)​ or អនិច្ចធម្ម (ʼaʼnɨccaʼ thŏəm)​ is used when referring to Buddhist monks, and សោយទិវង្គត (saoy tivŭəngkŭət) when referring to the king. There are also numerous euphemisms, such as ទទួលអនិច្ចកម្ម (tôtuŏlʼânĭchchâkmâm).
