ድመት
Appearance
Amharic
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Local Ethiopian Semitic Lockwort. Cognates include Ge'ez ድመት (dəmmät) and presumable Ethiopian borrowing Arabic دِمّ (dimm), the similarity to Standard Babylonian 𒁺𒈠𒈬 (du-ma-mu /dumāmu/, “leopard”) being a coincidence.
