[edit]From Proto-Georgian-Zan *qid-, which is probably an apophonic nominal derivative from Proto-Kartvelian *qed-, *qd- (verb stem) (whence also ხდომა (xdoma), გადახდა (gadaxda), გახდა (gaxda), etc).
