Bats

[edit]
ხეჼ.

Etymology

[edit]

Inherited from Proto-Nakh *xеᶰ. Cognates include Ingush хи (xi) and Chechen хен (xen).

Pronunciation

[edit]
  • IPA(key): /xẽ/
  • Hyphenation: ხეჼ
  • Rhymes: -ẽ

Noun

[edit]

ხეჼ (xẽclass bd

  1. tree (large woody plant)

Usage notes

[edit]
  • In the dictionaries of Kadagidze (1984) and Kakashvili (2022), the form has a plural in the nominative case as ხენბი (xenbi). However, such an ending of the plural in this form is not recorded in the works of Schiefner (1856) and Gagua (1961). It is possible that this is the influence of the Georgian plural form ხეები (xeebi).
