[edit]From ფსივ- ← *ფსუვ- ← *ფსოვ- (psiv- ← *psuv- ← *psov-), from Proto-Georgian-Zan *sow-. For vocalism see Gudava.[1]
Cognate with Old Georgian სოვი (sovi), whence Georgian სვავი (svavi).
