Etymology

From ფათქალ- (patkal-) +‎ -ამ (-am) +‎ -ს (-s). Probably along with the root ფათხალ- (patxal-) ,that used in Western dialects, Inherited from Proto-Kartvelian *petk- : ptk- (to break; to blow up).
