From Old Georgian [Term?], from Proto-Kartvelian *rc̣₁q̇aw-, *rc̣₁q̇w- (whence also მორწყვა (morc̣q̇va, to water), ნერწყვი (nerc̣q̇vi, spit, saliva), etc).
