რიჸალი

From Wiktionary, the free dictionary

Mingrelian

[edit]

Etymology

[edit]

Uncertain. Ghapantsyan considers the word to have been borrowed from Old Armenian երկար (erkar, long, extended) before the appearance of the prothetic ե- (e-) in it.[1][2] An Armenian borrowing is possible if historically this word had an კ ~ ყ ~ ჸ (ḳ ~ q̇ ~ ʾ) alternation (compare for example ჸურდგელი (ʾurdgeli)), however those forms are not attested.

Adjective

[edit]

რიჸალი (riʾali)

  1. long (usually of neck or limbs)
