[edit]From ო- (o-) + გნ- (gn-) + -ამ (-am) + -ს (-s). Inherited from Proto-Georgian-Zan *gen- : gn- (“to hear, learn”), cognate with Georgian მიგნება (migneba) and Mingrelian გინაფა (ginapa).
