Pronunciation

[edit]
  • IPA(key): /ˈnɑxums/
  • Hyphenation: ნა‧ხუმს

Verb

[edit]

ნახუმს (naxums) (Latin spelling naxums) (Atina, VitseArkabi)

  1. to wash
ფორჩა დონაფხვი დო ქოგებოკიდი. ჰაწი სქურუნ.
porça donapxvi do kogeboǩidi. haǯi skurun.
I washed the shirt and hung it up. It's drying now.

Usage notes

[edit]
  • 1st person singular imperfective present tense: ნახუმ (napxum), ნახუფ (napxup)
  • Singular perfective: ნახვი (napxvi), ნახვი (naxvi), ნახუ (naxu)
  • It is an exceptional case that the first-person signifier is in the verb stem. Some say should be said and written as *ბნახუმ (*bnaxum), *ბნახვი (*bnaxvi), etc. according to the general conjugation rules. But what's most intriguing is that these extraordinary forms are found in every region from Atina to Batumi.
