Etymology

From ი- (i-) +‎ რდ- (rd-) +‎ -ენ (-en). Inherited from Proto-Kartvelian *zard- : zrd- (“to grow”). Cognate with Georgian ზრდა (zrda), Mingrelian რდუალა (rduala) and Svan ლი̄რდი (līrdi).

   Winter days are short. When summer comes, the days get longer.

5. (Vitse, Lome, Batumi) to grow (sea where there is big waves)

   Synonyms: ეფუნ (epun), ეხრისკუნ (exrisǩun)

   ბიჭეფე! მციქა დობაუშენათ. არ კელე ტაონიქ ოკოხუმს. არ კელეთი მზუღა ირდენ.

   biç̌epe! mʒika dobauşenat. ar ǩele ťaonik oǩoxums. ar ǩeleti mzuğa irden.

   Guys! Let's hurry up. On the one hand, the weather is deteriorating. And the sea is getting bigger.
