Etymology

From თორ- (tor-) +‎ -უმ (-um) +‎ -ს (-s). Inherited from Proto-Kartvelian *ter : *tr- (“to drag, pull”). Cognate with Georgian თრევა (treva), Mingrelian თირუა (tirua) and Svan ლითრინე (litrine).
