[edit]Likely connected to Georgian დიღვამი (diɣvami, “fertile soil”), from Proto-Kartvelian *diɣwam- (“fertile soil”). Compare Svan დიღჳამ (diɣwam).
This root clearly resembles Proto-Indo-European *dʰéǵʰōm (“earth”).
