[edit]From ამა- (ama-) + უ- (u-) + ღ- (ğ-) + -ამ (-am) + -ს (-s). Inherited from Proto-Kartvelian *ɣw- (“to take, take away (inanimate objects)”). Cognate with Georgian ღება (ɣeba).
