From ამა- (ama-) +‎ ო- (o-) +‎ კიდ- (ǩid-) +‎ -ენ (-en). Inherited from Proto-Kartvelian *ḳid- (to take, to hang).

  1. to hang above the height level (usually on the ceiling of the house)
