Etymology

[edit]

Not given etymology by STEDT (uik "feel warm, close"), while Schuessler (2007) compares (OC *quːʔ, *quːɡs, *quɡ, “warm, sweltering”). However, as a word with a final -uik, there is a high chance that the word is a loan from Mon, per Hill 2019.
