[edit]Borrowed from Pali rājavaṃsa, itself from Sanskrit राजवंश (rājavaṃśa, “dynasty”), alternatively analyzable as Pali rāja (“king”) + vaṃsa (“bamboo; lineage”). Cognate with Mon ရာဇာဝၚ် and Shan ရႃႇဝၢင်ႇ (ràa wàang).
