Particularly: “Not given etymology by STEDT (hmɑn² "guessed right, have"). Luce gives Old Chinese (OC *pliɡ, “surely; must”) as a cognate.[1] This comparison appears outdated, and even at the time of publication seemed rather weak. MED considers Etymologies 1 and 2 equivalent (though they don't seem the same).”
