[edit]From Middle Mon ထး,[1] from Old Mon *ထာသ်, from Proto-Mon-Khmer *thaas. Cognate with Nyah Kur ทาด, Khmer ថាស (thaah), Thai ถาด (tàat), Northern Thai ᨳᩣ᩠ᨯ, Khün ᨳᩣ᩠ᨯ, Lao ຖາດ (thāt).
