Particularly: “Not given etymology by STEDT (tī: "play (music)". Luce compares Old Chinese (OC *l̥ʰɯ, “whip, beat”) as a potential cognate,[1] though more recent reconstructions of the Old Chinese pronunciation do not support this. Seems to be onomatopoeic; compare the later Chinese word (, “sound of honking”). Could they be related? This would partially depend on how early these words are attested.”
