Particularly: “Not given etymology by STEDT (kram̊ "sugar-cane"), while Luce adduces Tibetan བུ་རམ (bu ram, “brown sugar”) as a cognate, which he considers to be borrowed from Hindi गुड़ (guṛ, “jaggery”).[1] This would imply Burmese also borrowed the word from some other source related to the Indic.”

Particularly: “Not given etymology by STEDT (kraṁ "think"), while Luce adduces Tibetan སྒོམ (sgom, “to meditate, contemplate”) and Old Chinese 監 (OC *kraːm, *kraːms, “to mirror, observe”) as cognates.[2] The Chinese, in particular, seems like a solid match.”
