From Proto-Lolo-Burmese *glak (to boil), from Proto-Tibeto-Burman *s-(k/g)lak (to cook, boil; cooked). Cognate with Mizo tlak (to boil or cook without salt), Akha [script needed] (tjàq, to boil, cook) (STEDT).
