[edit]From Proto-Sino-Tibetan; cognate with Chinese 真 (OC *ʔljin). Has also been connected to 貞 (OC *teŋ), 偵 (OC *rtaːŋs, *tʰeŋ, *tʰeŋs) and 正 (OC *tjeŋ, *tjeŋs) (Schuessler, 2007). Doublet of དྲང་པོ (drang po) (Sagart, 2020b).
