[edit]Inherited from Proto-Southwestern Tai *saŋᴮ¹ (“to bid; to order”), from Proto-Tai *saŋᴮ (“to order”). Cognate with Thai สั่ง (sàng), Northern Thai ᩈᩢ᩠᩵ᨦ, Khün ᩈᩢ᩠᩵ᨦ, Lü ᦉᧂᧈ (ṡang¹), Tai Dam ꪎꪰ꪿ꪉ, Shan သင်ႇ (sàng), Tai Nüa ᥔᥒᥱ (sǎng), Phake ꩬင် (saṅ), Ahom 𑜏𑜂𑜫 (saṅ), Zhuang saengq or daengq.
