Etymology
[edit]From Sanskrit देशना (deśanā, “instruction; direction”); perhaps via Old Khmer desnā or Angkorian Old Khmer desanā (“sermon, discourse, lecture; to give a sermon, discourse, or lecture”). Cognate with Modern Khmer ទេសនា (teisaʼnaa), ទេស្នា (teisaʼnaa).
