[edit]From Pali andhakāra (“darkness”, literally “one who makes blind; one who causes blindness”), from andha (“blind”) + kāra (“doer; maker”), equivalent to Thai อนธ + การ (gaan). Cognate with Modern Khmer អន្ធការ (ʼɑnthĕəʼkaa).
