From Pali agati (prejudice, literally not going), from a- (no; not; non; etc) + gati (going, coming; course, current; etc), equivalent to Thai (à) +‎ คติ (ká-dtì). Cognate with Modern Khmer អគតិ (ʼɑkteʼ).
