[edit]Possibly extended from Middle Khmer ស្រាល (srāla, “light (in weight)”) or Angkorian Old Khmer *ស្រាល៑ (*srāl), ឝ្រាល៑ (śrāl, “light (in weight)”), which is firstly became สราญ (srǎan). -ญ is corrupted.
