[edit]Derived from Pali samāgama (“association”), ultimately from Sanskrit समागम (samāgama, “idem”). Cognate with Lao ສະມາຄົມ (sa mā khom), Northern Thai ᩈᨾᩣᨣᩫ᩠ᨾ.
