[edit]From Pali vipāka (“fruit, issue; result, outcome; etc”), from Sanskrit विपाक (vipāka, “idem”); perhaps via Old Khmer vipāka (“result, effect; difficulty, hardship; difficult, hard; etc”). Cognate with Modern Khmer វិបាក (vibaak).
