[edit]From ฟัน (fan, “to slash, to cut; (slang) to set or determine (a price) unfairly”) + หัว (hǔua, “head”) + แบะ (bɛ̀, “to open or be opened, separate or be separated, part or be parted”); meaning to surprise or shock someone by demanding an unfairly high payment from him as if to strike his head open.
