[edit]From Pali jayanto (literally “conquered; triumphed; won”), the first word of the Buddhist chant Mahājayamangala-gathā ("Verses of Great Victory and Auspices"), which says:
- Pali: Jayanto bodhiyā mūle sakyānaṃ nandi vaddhano.
- "Victorious at the foot of the Bodhi tree was he who enhanced the delight of the Sakyans."
