[edit]From Old Khmer chlū, chlu, chlūva (“ox (zodiac)”); Pre-Angkorian Old Khmer clau, clauhv, clov (idem); Angkorian Old Khmer chlū, chlu (idem); or Old Mon jlow (idem). Cognate with Modern Khmer ឆ្លូវ (chləw).
