[edit]Inherited from Old Tamil 𑀫𑀡𑁆 (maṇ). Cognate with Malayalam മണ്ണ് (maṇṇŭ) Kannada ಮಣ್ಣು (maṇṇu), Telugu మన్ను (mannu), Tulu ಮನ್ನ್ (mannŭ), Kodava ಮಣ್ಣು (maṇṇu).
