[edit]From Middle Tamil ஞமன் (ñamaṉ), from Sanskrit यम (yama). Cognate with Malayalam ഞെമൻ (ñemaṉ). Doublet of நமன் (namaṉ), யமன் (yamaṉ), and எமன் (emaṉ).
