Inherited from Proto-Dravidian *kaṇ. Cognates with Kannada ಕಣ್ಣು (kaṇṇu), Malayalam കണ്ണ് (kaṇṇŭ), Kota (India) கொண் (koṇ), Brahui خَنِنگ (xaning) and Tamil கண் (kaṇ).
