[edit]Inherited from Magadhi Prakrit 𑀓𑀬𑀮 (kayala), from Sanskrit कदल (kadala), of Munda origin (compare Santali ᱠᱟᱭᱨᱟ (kayra)). Doublet of କଦଳୀ (kadaḷi). Cognate with Assamese কল (kol), Bengali কলা (kola) and Hindi केला (kelā).
