From Paisaci Prakrit [Term?] (compare Maharastri Prakrit 𑀉𑀯𑀮𑁆𑀮𑀺𑀬𑀇 (uvalliyaï)), from Sanskrit उपलीयते (upalīyate, to lie close to). Compare Old Marathi 𑘌𑘯𑘜𑘹 (oḷaṇe), 𑘪𑘻𑘯𑘜𑘹 (voḷaṇe).
