Etymology

Inherited from Middle Bengali মিসিল (misil), borrowed from Classical Persian مثل (misl, likeness, similarity), from Arabic مِثْل (miṯl), with the following semantic shift: "similarity" > "people with similarities (in ideas or motives)" > "procession".
