[edit]Inherited from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀨𑁄𑀓𑁆𑀓 (*phokka, “hollow”) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀝𑁆𑀝- (-ṭṭa-), from a substrate language. Cognate with Marathi फुकट (phukaṭ), Gujarati ફોગટ (phogaṭ), Hindi फोकट (phokaṭ).
