Etymology

Borrowed from Classical Persian فضيل (fazil), from Arabic فَضِيل (faḍīl, virtuous, excellent, respectable), with semantic inversion by antiphrasis. Doublet of আফজল (aphjol), ফজল (phojol), and ফজিল​ৎ (phojil​t). Cognate with Hindi फाज़िल (fāzil)
