[edit]Borrowed from Classical Persian فضيل (fazil), from Arabic فَضِيل (faḍīl, “virtuous, excellent, respectable”), with semantic inversion by antiphrasis. Doublet of আফজল (aphjol), ফজল (phojol), and ফজিলৎ (phojilt). Cognate with Hindi फाज़िल (fāzil)
