[edit]Learned borrowing from Sanskrit धूसर (dhūsara), ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *dʰewh₂- (“smoke, mist”). Doublet of ধূম (dhum, “smoke”), ধোঁয়া (dhō̃ẇa, “smoke”) and ধুলো (dhulō, “dust”).
