Etymology

Inherited from Middle Bengali দুইপর (duipor), from Sanskrit দ্ৱিপ্রহর (dbiprahara, noon, literally second part of day)‌, from দ্ৱি (dbi, two) +‎ প্রহর (prahara, part of day). Cognate to Hindi दोपहर (dophar), Punjabi ਦੁਪਹਿਰ (duphir).
