[edit]Inherited from Middle Bengali দুইপর (duipor), from Sanskrit দ্ৱিপ্রহর (dbiprahara, “noon”, literally “second part of day”), from দ্ৱি (dbi, “two”) + প্রহর (prahara, “part of day”). Cognate to Hindi दोपहर (dophar), Punjabi ਦੁਪਹਿਰ (duphir).
