Etymology

Inherited from Prakrit 𑀤𑀺𑀕𑁆𑀖𑀺𑀆 (digghiā), from Sanskrit दीर्घिका (dīrghikā). Cognate with Assamese দীঘি (dighi), Hindustani دِگِی (digī) / दिगी (digī), and Odia ଦିଘି (dighi).
