Borrowed from Classical Persian تماشا (tamāšā, amusement, pleasure), from Arabic تَمَشَّى (tamaššā, stroll). Cognate with Bhojpuri तमासा (tamāsā), Hindustani تماشہ / तमाशा (tamāśā), Malayalam തമാശ (tamāśa).
