[edit]Inherited from Old Bengali *টিআংডা (ṭiaṃḍa), from Magadhi Prakrit *𑀝𑀺𑀅𑀁𑀟 (*ṭiaṃḍa), from Sanskrit त्रिकण्ट (trikaṇṭa), from त्रि (tri, “three”) + कण्ट (kaṇṭa, “thorn, fishbone”).[1]
