Borrowed from Classical Persian آیَتُ‌اللّٰه (āyatu-l-lāh), from Arabic آيَةُ الله (ʔāyatu llāh, sign of God). Compare Hindustani آیَتُ ٱللہ / आयतुल्लाह (āyatullāh).
