[edit]Inherited from Proto-Indo-Aryan *źʰṛṣyáti, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *ȷ́ʰr̥šyáti, from From Proto-Indo-European *ǵʰr̥s-yé-ti, ye-present of *ǵʰers- (“to stand on end”).
